The members of the Sunriver Pétanque Club invite you to learn and play the French game of pétanque and enjoy the camaradie of fellow players. We are a group of about 30 men and women who enjoy learning and playing a unique sport. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. No experience, equipment or money is necessary to begin.
We welcome everyone to play the game of pétanque. We create opportunities that bring people together to learn the game, build skills, and engage in casual and competitive play.
We cultivate camaraderie, inclusion and good sportsmanship. We have fun on and off the court.
Pétanque is a popular French boules game where players throw hollow metal balls (boules) from a standing position inside a circle, aiming to land them as close as possible to a small wooden target ball (cochonnet or "jack"). Played on hard dirt or gravel, it is a game of strategy where teams (1-3 players) score by having their boules closer to the jack than the opponent after all balls are thrown, usually to 13 points.
